A little ballet. A lovely shared memory.

Share your child’s first ballet experience through playful movement, music and creativity. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces ballet in a fun, accessible and fitness-inspired way.

Explore how ballet develops strength, posture, balance, coordination and body awareness, with time to learn and enjoy the experience together.

Who can join?

One parent and one child, aged 6–14 years.
Suitable for complete beginners.

What you’ll experience together

Led by Singapore Ballet dancer Sayaka Yamauchi, the workshop takes you through a gentle introduction to ballet movement.

  • Begin with Ballet Pilates-inspired exercises to awaken the core, improve alignment and prepare the body for movement.
  • Explore ballet-inspired conditioning for the legs, glutes and postural muscles, with an introduction to turnout and coordination.
  • Learn basic foot and arm positions, posture and alignment.
  • Try beginner-friendly pliés, relevés and tendus at the barre and in the centre.
  • Bring it together in a simple port de bras sequence set to music, finishing with a traditional ballet reverence.

Before we dance: create your keepsake

30-minute Ballet Slipper Craft Session

Decorate a pair of authentic ballet slippers together and bring home a unique keepsake from your shared ballet experience.

For crafting and display only. The slippers are generously donated by Singapore Ballet. They are intended solely for this craft activity and are not suitable for dancing or personal use.

Experience your first ballet steps with Singapore Ballet dancer Sayaka Yamauchi, who will lead you and your child through ballet-inspired exercises and beginner-friendly movements.
