Iyengar Yoga CET: Healthy Hips, Stable Shoulders with Bhanu Singh
In this focused Iyengar Yoga workshop, we explore the powerful connection between the hips and shoulders—two major hubs of mobility, stability, and structural support. When these joints function well, the entire body feels more integrated, balanced, and free. When they don’t, we often experience tension, limited range of motion, or compensatory patterns that can affect everything from posture to breath.
Using the precision and alignment principles of Iyengar Yoga, this workshop guides students through a thoughtful progression of postures designed to awaken dormant muscles, mobilize stiff areas, and cultivate intelligent strength.
For the hips, expect a blend of standing poses, supported lunges, and targeted seated work that helps release the deep layers of the pelvis while training the legs to provide steady support. Props such as blocks, belts, bolsters, and chairs allow each student to work safely and effectively, regardless of experience level.
For the shoulders, we explore the architecture of the upper body through chest-opening postures, shoulder-stabilizing actions, and slow, deliberate movements that re-pattern the shoulder girdle. Students learn how to create space in the chest, strengthen the upper back, and integrate the arms with the spine for durable, functional mobility.
Throughout the session, we emphasize:

This workshop is ideal for yoga practitioners of all levels, athletes seeking joint resilience, or anyone wanting to move with more confidence, comfort, and stability.
Participants can also choose to complete 15hours or 30 hours as part of the Continued Education & Training (CET) Program of Yoga Alliance.
Bhanu is an experienced yoga teacher with over 15 years of teaching across India, Singapore, and the UK. Having begun his yoga journey in 2005 and teaching since 2008, he started studying Iyengar Yoga under Sri H.S. Arun in 2009. His dedication to the tradition led him to complete the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Programme and earning his certification as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
With extensive experience teaching in Singapore from 2013 to 2021, and now based in the UK, Bhanu continues to share his practice internationally and regularly returns to Singapore to conduct workshops. His teaching is recognised for its precision, clear instruction, and ability to make yoga accessible to students of all levels.
Rooted in mindfulness and personalised attention, Bhanu blends traditional Iyengar methodology with a modern, holistic understanding of wellness. His classes emphasise mental clarity, emotional balance, and physical vitality through a combination of asana practice, pranayama, and mindful awareness.
