About the Immersion
One of the only KPJAYI Certified Ashtanga Yoga Instructor in Asia, Clayton Horton, is back again in Singapore to lead a series of workshops for the community here.
An extended weekend of teachings offered for experienced Ashtanga Yogis, as well as practitioners who are just starting out in the practice of Yoga.

7:15 - 9:15 - Mysore Ashtanga Yoga
09:45 - 12:15 - Workshop #1: Basic Philosophy of the Yoga Sutras, Pranayama, Meditation
Join Clayton for an explanation of the eight-fold path of Ashtanga Yoga as presented in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The relationship of breath and prana will be discussed, along with basic pranayama and meditation techniques.

9:30 - 12:30 - Workshop #2: Foundations of Ashtanga
In this workshop, we will explore the fundamentals and details of correct breathing, sun salutations and all of the standing poses. Examples and tools for working on the jump back and jump through of the Ashtanga Vinyasa breath movement system will be covered in detail. Opening and closing mantras will be explained and chanted together with guided relaxation at the end.
2:00 - 4:30 - Workshop #3: Primary series part 1
In this session we will break down the first half of the primary series along with the finishing postures. Foundations of technique and alignment will be discussed; modifications will be addressed where necessary.

9:30 - 12:30 - Workshop #4: Primary series part 2
This morning session begins with some basic breathwork (pranayama) and a guided meditation, followed by a breakdown of the Second Half of the primary series. Technique and alignment of postures will be refined, allowing for efficiency of muscular force, correct breathing, and an increase in the flow of prana, our subtle, vital energy.
2:00 - 4:30 - Workshop #5: Taking It Further
This last session will focus on a review of essential elements of Ashtanga yoga such as breath - movement efficiency and injury prevention with an accent on back bending and an introduction to some of the accessible poses of the Intermediate (2nd) Series. Mysore Style Ashtanga will be explained and explored. The session will end with a restorative and refreshing Yoga Nidra session.

About Clayton Horton
Born in Oklahoma, US, Clayton is an experienced and internationally known KPJAYI Certified Ashtanga yoga instructor. Clayton studied with masters Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Greensufi for 14 years, both of whom gave him great inspiration to practise daily and develop a yogic lifestyle. To Clayton, yoga is a healing path back to the self, allowing us to experience true peace and happiness. Being kind and living in balance with nature are qualities that continue to guide his life.
Clayton is currently a Senior Yoga Teacher at Pure Yoga Hong Kong studios, leading Mysore, Ashtanga, Kirtans and Gong Meditation classes.
