Chair Yoga 15 hours Workshops / CET with Cora

4 - 6 December 2026
10:00am - 12:30pm / 2:00–4:30pm

PURE Yoga Ngee Ann City

About the Workshop

This 15-hour Chair Yoga Continuing Education Training (CET) explores the versatile use of the yoga chair in both personal practice and teaching. The chair makes challenging poses more accessible and supports longer holds, so you can fully experience their benefits, whether you're refining your own practice or building tools to teach others.

Join for the full 15-hour CET or drop into individual sessions by theme. Each session stands on its own, so you're welcome to attend the full training for continuing education credit or select the themes most relevant to your practice or teaching.

What You Will Learn & Take Away
  • Confident, practical use of the chair in personal practice, active sequencing, and restorative work alike.
  • Chair-based sequencing, building sequences that create a safe, supportive container for deepening your own practice or your students'.
  • Greater body awareness and opening, the chair reveals where you're gripping, compensating, or holding back, letting you engage more fully with each pose.
  • Precision and refinement, using the chair to isolate technique and target specific areas for growth.
  • A bridge to your mat practice, chair work that carries over into daily practice in a light-hearted, exploratory way.
  • Range across levels, regressions and progressions for a variety of poses, including backbends and inversions.
This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to expand their practice or teaching repertoire by integrating the yoga chair making yoga more accessible and enjoyable for practitioners at every level.

Expect a fun, collaborative learning process enriched by discussion, demonstration, and interactive exploration of the yoga chair.

Note for teachers: the full 15-hour training qualifies for Yoga Alliance CET hours. Individual sessions are a great way to sample chair work or focus on a specific theme, though CET credit applies to the complete training.

About Cora

Cora Lee is a 500-RYT yoga teacher based in Singapore with over a decade of teaching experience, spanning studio classes, corporate wellness, and teacher training. Her approach is rooted in applied knowledge building strength and stability as the foundation for range and flexibility and grounded in a deep study of alignment and functional anatomy that supports students at every stage, age, and ability.

This philosophy led her to develop her Chair Workshop/CET, a specialized methodology using the chair as a teaching tool to make alignment, biomechanics, and safe transitions tangible for students and teachers alike. She trained under Patrick Creelman at Pure Yoga, and has studied with Jason Crandell and Judith Lasater, carrying forward their shared emphasis on precision and safety in how she teaches today.

This will be her 8th time running the training in Singapore. She believes yoga is a lifelong practice of learning and loves nothing more than growing and evolving alongside her students.

Schedule

Day 1 — Friday, December 4

Morning · 10:00–12:30pm · Chair Basics and Refined Foundation
An exploration of the chair as an alignment tool, establishing structural foundations in standing poses, refining joint stacking and weight distribution, and translating these principles into a dynamic vinyasa practice. Sun salutations, standing postures, and balancing poses are examined through the lens of precise alignment, with the chair supporting exploration of arm balance and inversion actions.

Afternoon · 2:00–4:30pm · Twists & Hip Opening
A study of the chair's role in accessing rotation through the spine and opening the hip joint with anatomical precision. This session examines twisting actions through the mechanics of the spine, alongside targeted work to strengthen and lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips and legs, using longer holds to invite deeper release.

Day 2 — Saturday, December 5

Morning · 10:00–12:30pm · Arm Balances and Inversions
An in-depth look at the shoulder girdle stability and core engagement required for arm balances, using the chair to refine alignment and build strength safely. This session also covers foundational inversion technique, headstand (Sirsasana) and forearm balance (Pincha Mayurasana), supported by chair-assisted actions that clarify weight distribution and spinal alignment, closing with shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana), plow pose (Halasana), and a restorative savasana.

Afternoon · 2:00–4:30pm · Backbends
A study of spinal extension mechanics and the actions required to backbend safely and sustainably. Using the chair to isolate and refine the actions of the shoulders, hips, and spine, this session explores wheel pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana), Viparita Dandasana, and their variations, with close attention to structural support throughout.

Day 3 — Sunday, December 6

Morning · 10:00–12:30pm · Advanced Asanas
An exploration of integrated actions across poses categories, the combined biomechanics of arm balances with inversions, twisting actions layered with backbending, and inversions transitioning into backbends. Using the chair to refine technique, this session includes deeper backbends such as scorpion pose, dropbacks, Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (King Pigeon), and Natarajasana (King Dancer), with attention to sequencing actions safely within the body.

Afternoon · 2:00–4:30pm · Chair for Adaptation & Restorative Practice
A study of how the chair can be adapted to different bodies, including those navigating injury or physical limitation, using props and modifications to preserve alignment while making poses accessible. The session includes a fully chair-supported restorative practice.
