About the Programme
This workshop focuses on building the foundations needed for stronger pull-ups, dips, and eventually the muscle-up, while improving overall upper-body control and movement quality.
Instead of focusing only on the final skill, we will work on the strength, technique, coordination, and timing that support long-term progress. Participants will learn how these movements are connected, identify common weaknesses, and understand how to train them in a more structured and effective way.
Through coaching, drills, and progressions, participants will leave with stronger fundamentals, better movement awareness, and a clearer direction for their training.
Participants can expect:
- A structured approach to pull-ups, dips, and muscle-up foundations
- Better understanding of technical and strength requirements
- Suitable progressions based on individual level
- Coaching to improve movement quality and body control
- Clearer direction for continued progress after the workshop
Requirements
General Entry: You should be able to do about 3–5 pull-ups and 5–8 dips to join.
Advanced Track: Muscle-up and weighted progressions are more suitable for those who can do around 8–10 pull-ups.
About Joshua Tay
Joshua is a calisthenics and strength coach with over a decade of training experience, supported by both coaching and competitive success in the sport. He has competed in and won calisthenics and street-lifting competitions and is currently pursuing a muscle-up world record attempt. Over the years, he has coached a wide range of individuals, including both men and women as well as older adults, helping them build strength, improve technique, and progress towards movements such as pull-ups, dips, and muscle-ups in a safe and structured way.
His coaching approach is centred around strong fundamentals, movement quality, and clear progressions that are practical and easy to apply. Through this workshop, his aim is to help participants better understand how these movements work, what may be holding them back, and how to train more effectively according to their own level.
