Renew: A Spring Retreat in Kyoto with Cherlene and Quan Qi

13 - 18 April 2027
Kyoto, Japan

About the Retreat

Balance is rarely still.

It shifts with the seasons we move through and the demands of daily life. Sometimes it asks for effort; at other times, it asks us to soften. We learn to hold strength and ease, movement and stillness, discipline and rest- not as opposing forces, but as parts of the same whole.

Join us in Kyoto in the heart of spring for six days of practice and shared experience. Through daily movement, good food, meaningful conversations and time to immerse ourselves in the rhythm and beauty of Kyoto, we invite a return to balance that is lived rather than pursued.

This retreat is not an escape from everyday life, but a pause within it.

Together, we will explore what it means to move with intention, rest without guilt and remain centred even as life continues to change around us. Held by two teachers with distinct yet complementary approaches, our practices draw from both strength and softness, inviting participants to cultivate resilience without rigidity and presence without striving.

Against the backdrop of Kyoto in spring, a season that reminds us that beauty lies as much in change as in renewal, we gather to reconnect with ourselves, with one another, with the simple act of being where we are.

About the Facilitators

Cherlene Lim
What began as a casual trial over a decade ago quickly evolved into a 30-day hot yoga challenge, then an all-consuming obsession—and eventually, a quiet way of being. Yoga did not change her life in the dramatic way others often describe. Instead, it seeped in slowly, like water finding its way through the smallest cracks, gradually reshaping her from within. Today, yoga remains the anchor that grounds her through life’s ebbs and flows. Her classes mirror her personal journey on the mat, offering insights into how seemingly opposing elements can find balance. Off the mat, you’ll often find Cherlene with her nose buried in her latest read.

Yeo Quan Qi
Quan Qi embarked on his yoga journey in 2015, discovering solace and balance through Vinyasa practice in online videos. As yoga grew to be an integral part of his life, it became a sanctuary during overwhelming times. Grateful for numerous mentors, Quan Qi particularly cherishes his learnings from Hee Boon, shaping his yoga practice since 2016. As a practicing pharmacist, Quan Qi integrates his anatomical knowledge to dissect poses, ensuring proper alignment for his students. He aims to fuse functional mobility training with traditional yoga, offering a contemporary approach to enrich the yoga experience.
